Snow Schedule This is getting to be a very white winter and since none of our classes are “critical”, we would rather err on the side of caution and postpone or cancel than ask all of you to venture out in the bad weather! Please bear with us while we try to re-schedule any of our classes that may get snowed out and call us at 410-561-3101 before getting on the roads to come to class or to shop whenever the weather is questionable! |

Redwork Demo and Make It/Take It Think Spring Party, Sunday Feb 28th, 1 pm Hand Redwork embroidery has been experiencing a resurgence in popularity not only because quilters like the “old fashioned” look, but because the simple hand work embroidery stitches are so relaxing and therapeutic (both mentally and physically!) Redwork can be done in any color of embroidery floss! For instance the blue snow lady is referred to as Blue Redwork! If you are a redwork stitcher, bring one of your favorite projects to show and share -they don’t have to be finished– because as we all know, “it’s the stitching part that’s fun, the actual turning it into a finished project might never get done! If you’re new to redwork stitching, the come and join in the fun! Redwork embroidery is great for just about any one of any age and either gender! We have pre-printed dragonfly penny squares for you to stitch for FREE—just let us know if you are coming to the make it/take it so we know how many we are going to need! We’ll review the basics, and sit and stitch and visit for a while! If you have the following items bring them—if not, we have supplies that you may purchase: Small embroidery hoop (I like a 5” - 6” diameter hoop, 4” for children to use) Small pair of scissors or head cutter Thread Heaven Embroidery floss Embroidery needle ( tapestry sz 24 is nice, but we also like embroidery sz 8!) Needle threader

Hand redwork embroidery is lots of fun—you only use 1 color of thread—or as many as you want! It stitches up quickly, keeps your hands limber, you create something pretty, and it’s so satisfying to see your work progress! Redwork embroidery can be done in any color, it can be filled in with crayons for a more colorful folk art look, it can be done in traditional and whimsical patterns, and it can be done by hand and by hoop embroidery machines! |
