If you cancel less than 2 days before class or do not show up you will, unfortunately, forfeit all class fees.  Since classes are a time to relax and enjoy—as well as to learn-for everyone, please leave babies and children at home. We also request that you respect your classmates and arrive to class on time and prepared for class. Unless noted, all classes are sit and sew and require you to bring your machines. Snow Policy—If Baltimore County schools are closed, class will be canceled and re-scheduled, on weekends we will call you if we are going to cancel/postpone due to weather.

EVERYONE that loves to quilt and those that want to try quilting are invited to our party!  Bring your favorite quilted project that you worked on last year—if it’s just a quilt top—well, bring that—to show and share!  Did you work on the Stitches Etc Home Center 2008 BOM? Bring it!  We’ll have show and share time, and demo’s to review some great quilting techniques like Power Cutting, fabric selection, and we’ll introduce two brand new tools—the Crosscut 4 Patch and the Crosscut 9 Patch rulers from Jodi Barrows, and we’ll show off the NEW Janome Free Motion Quilting Set!  Get a look at our new Confetti Quilt Sample—it’s been quite some time since we’ve had one displayed– and see how the new crosscut rulers can make your piecing faster and more accurate!  $5 to register and get a $5 fabric certificate when you come –so it’s FREE!  Bring a “munchie” and it’s recipe 9ifa applicable) to share, if you want, too!

2.0 How to Use the Janome Convertible Free Motion Quilt Foot Set—Sunday January 11th, 2 pm—For Stitches Etc Preferred Customers—here is your opportunity for us to show you how to use this fantastic new quilting foot!  If you’ve got one—bring your machine and your new foot and a doodle quilt sandwich; if you don’t have one, bring your machine and if we can get enough of them we can let you practice—or just come and watch and decide for yourself that you just HAVE to have one!  FREE class!!

3.0 Sweat Shirt Embroidery Workshop Sunday Jan. 18th, 2 pm –For Stitches Etc Preferred Customers With Janome Hoop embroidery machines– We’ve come up with this pretty little embroidery design and we are going to show you how to create the design with your Janome Customizing program, print a template of it, transfer the design to your compact flash card, and then what kind of stabilizers you will need,  how to use your cloth setter to position the design on your sweatshirt exactly where you want it! After you stitch out the design (which you can customize with your own name or monogram) then we’ll even show you how much fun it is to add just a teeny little bit of tasteful “bling” with our nifty hot fix Swarovski crystals! $10, get a $5 thread certificate when you come to class!

4.0    2009 Block of the Month Program

This year’s BOM program will actually be conducted a little differently from what we’ve done in the past.  While it will be a sit and sew program and right now we are planning on having two sessions—a Saturday morning session (from 10 am—12 noon)  and a Sunday afternoon session (from 2—4 pm), we’ll actually be stitching two blocks per month (those of you that are “experienced” may get both blocks done during class and those that are newer quilters will need to complete the  second block at home) and by the end of the year—the entire quilt will be FINSIHED—quilted, bound and DONE! To help attract some new folks that may be a bit timid when it comes to quilting, this year’s quilt will be OSS –one size strip!

At the beginning of the year you can cut all your strips the required size and then bring them to class with you each month and we can cut the required squares and triangles off of the strips! This is a wonderfully fun and relaxing way to create quilt blocks, so that we can all learn new things, quilt and socialize at the same time! Sashing, borders, layering and pin basting and binding are all scheduled to occur during class time, too! $120 for the entire year. Kick off meeting for everyone Saturday January 24th at 2 pm.  We’ll review class dates, select fabrics, talk about required tools, etc.

5.0 Sewing Notions Clutch—Janome Know How follow On Class—For Stitches Etc Preferred Customers. This cute little clutch purse is great for holding some of your sewing tools, or keeping track of your receipts in your purse, or for carrying just about anything—but the best part is that sewing one up is a fun way to review your basic sewing Know How skills like blind hem, button hole, top stitching, clean finishing, zipper insertion, and how to sew a button on with your sewing machine! Saturday January 31st OR Sunday February 8th, 2 pm. $10 to register, get a $5 fabric coupon when you come to class and we’ll have the complete kits ready for you—just bring your machine and all it’s accessories and beige colored 50 wt cotton thread!

7.o Folded Fabric Star Ornament—Sat Feb 21st, 1:30 pm. This is part of  this year’s  Christmas Club!  While there’s very little actual sewing done on this project, it is great fun to turn quilter’s prairie points into this pretty ornament!  Pick up supply list, $15 includes some supplies.

8.0 Learn to Quilt Class.  This 3 week class will teach you rotary cutting skills, machine piecing skills, how to measure and apply a border, how to machine quilt and apply binding—and at the end of the 3 weeks—your quilt will be DONE!!
